About time for first thoughts

This will be short…I like the concept for this drama. A girl who can see people’s time spans, even her own, is living her best life because she only has a hundred days left. She meets a guy who stops her time, and even (wait for it) adds onto her time. So she tries with all her best to stay by his side so that she can live a little bit longer.

It’s a great concept…it is.

But the main female lead is so freaking skinny. I don’t usually mind characters’ sizes, but our dear female lead looks too skinny.

The whole time that I am watching this drama, I am only thinking about feeding her.

I love the actress too. She is our weightlifting fairy, Lee Sung Kyung.

She is already skinny as is, but for this drama it looks like she lost even more weight.

The drama is cute. It truly freaking is, but now I am on episode four, and even still, I cannot stop wondering how no one seems to mind that she’s so underweight. She’s very tall, mind you.

It’s 2019, and I know people will say I am body shaming. Believe you me, I only wish that was the case.

I am worried about the health of our favourite Korean actresses. Not actors, actors are usually never underweight. If anything, most of them look like they are a healthy weight. An article about IU being skinnier than usual also popped up.

I know it’s the norm being skinny in South Korea. But there’s a very thick line between skinny and underweight. As thick as that line is, the Korean entertainment industry is always crossing it.

Some idols come back skinny, and the K-nets show worry, and I am like “Finally!”, while with others they don’t even bet an eyelash.

This should stop.

These people are role models. There is such a big chance for little children to follow these trends. “My role model is 170cm tall and weighs 45kg? Then I’m 165cm, I should weigh 40kg.”

People might say I am overreacting, but think about it.

I love K-dramas and I won’t start disliking them anytime soon. But I think South Korea should stop normalising being underweight. As much as obesity is a thing, so is anorexia. Being underweight is as much of a disease as being overweight

Yes, these were my first thoughts on the drama About time as much as it sounded like a rant.

I’ll come back with a full review as soon as I am done with all the episodes (probably lol).
